Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. (Exodus 17:12)
And this as the battle raged.
As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. (Exodus 17:11)
I’ve been winning the eucharisteo battle for 10 weeks now – taking territory in my worship of noticing the small graces and the floods of mercy. But this last week my arms got tired. There are 41 weeks to go. I haven’t yet seen the worst of the fray. But I’m determined to keep gaining ground.
Which is why I’m so grateful for friends and mentors like Terry Brauer who hold up my arms when anger or anxiety sway the battle and thanksgiving limps wounded. We have loads in common, not least being Jesus and our favourite coffee shop. Here are Terry’s 39 things:
