100 Words of Wisdom: Chasing

It’s restless panic. Strange urgent-fear paralysis. Relentless driving breathless chasing. Always chasing. Everyone everywhere – chasing. In the mall, in the mirror – chasing.

We chase the common culprits: Possessions. Pleasure. Prestige (1 John 2:16) – in whatever shape or form or handheld device they come. We chase the subtle lures that have us whipped and staggering: Acceptance. Affirmation. Affection. To be seen. To be heard. We chase sleep. And space.

Pray with me – that we would chase Jesus. Single-minded sprinting for his kingdom and his righteousness.

And the rest? He’ll add it if we need it. Or leave it in the dust.
