God,
Take us to where people need your sunrise. Be their holy synaesthesia so that the warmth of the brightening horizon is the sweet smell of you. In the fullness of your aroma, make us empty of ourselves. Forgetful, even. Just uncomplicated. Interested. Happy to defer without lame self-deprecation. Make us the dawn that draws people into the full light of day to stand awe-struck by the blazing Son.
Amen.
Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. – 2 Corinthians 2:15
[Jesus] emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant… – Philippians 2:7 (NAS)
The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. – Proverbs 4:18
