I spend a lot of time looking for the lids.
We have an enormous drawer in our kitchen that is home to a community of plastic bowls, bottles and lunchboxes. Sadly, however, the tranquillity of these well-meaning plastic lives is under threat. Someone – somewhere – is running an illegal, clandestine, black-market lid selling operation, because we have way more containers than lids. The lids are endangered. They are vanishing on a daily basis.
I have tried in vain to fight the obvious corruption taking place in and around our Tupperware drawer, but my attempts have been futile. So, instead, I’ve decided that every time I have to give myself over to a lengthy and often pointless rummage for the lid of a lucky bearer of leftovers, I will redeem the minutes by praying, in a multi-tasking kind of way (i.e. ‘Could it be this one? And Lord, I pray that you’d just give Murray wisdom today as he – no, too small – and help him to – hmm… What is Noddy doing in here?’)
Snatched prayer is better than no prayer.
‘Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.’ – Ephesians 6:18
